This article by Maria D. Avgerinou delves into the importance of visual language in our society in the digital age. The internet is growing everyday and we need to keep up with it, because visual language is a useful tool, especially in the new age of the internet. Visual language encompasses visual communication, thinking and learning. Being able to discern and "read" visual language is a skill that should and has to be learned for a multitude of reasons like: interpreting, giving meaning to, communicating, learning, visual media/information. One can be competent in visual language, but that's limiting, in an infinite world.

Visual media is also a new medium for artists to express and communicate their art, it is also a new way of learning, and to effectively learn and create, visual literacy and computer skills are imperative, especially because of how accessible digital media and information is. I am a visual learner and having visual literacy and inhabiting that skill is vital for me to be successful. It helps me understand and interpret media and information. In my art making, my inspiration and sketches help me achieve what I want to express. Videos, pictures, and demos help me understand and "put myself in their shoes" so I can thoroughly ingest the information given to me. Visual learning isn't something new, it just has become more and understood recently in the digital age we are living in, and its urgency that we make widespread because it can help so many struggling learners who need it to thrive.
