A BIT ABOUT ME

My name is Charlotte Gilmer. I'm currently a sophomore at CU Boulder and I'm studying art practices with a minor in creative technology and design. Im from Northern Virginia and I am the youngest of 4 girls, and I have a handful of step siblings! I first started my art journey in my sophomore year of high school in 2020. I decided to take a ceramics class, and it was like love at first sight. I immediately connected with clay, and ever since when i have the opportunity to work with clay I take it. I love incorporating clay into other art pieces I make. For my final project senior year, I made a plaster cast of my face and glued them to paintings. I really enjoy experimenting with different mediums and so I decided to take digital art. Its always been something I've been interested in but never dipped my toes into, so now Im diving in head first. I love using my hands and creating something meaningful to me. I wanted to try a different medium that uses my hands differently. Art for me is very therapeutic and emotional. Its a way for me to connect with my inner-self and is a reflection of my self. Typically my paintings communicate what I am feeling and how. I love playing with line work, composition, color and designs. I am very excited for this next semester and trying new things and experimenting with art!
