Zine

Artist Statement:

Since Ive started making art, I have been fascinated with the process, taking notes, sketching, outlining, the finishing touches, all of it. I wanted to create a continuous collage, each page is built off of the previous and so on and so forth. I used photoshop and Illustrator to the zine. To make the "painting" I first made an outline using illustrator and built from that, add layers, shading and different brushes to complete it. I am not very familiar with photoshop and illustrator so I wanted to make a collage, something I am comfortable with so I could experiment with the adobe applications. I do wish that i made the collage "background" and first couple of pages to make the zine flow better, color wise. Or the opposite, make the painting more muted and/or black and white. I enjoyed this project a lot because I have made zines before but not with digital art. I got more comfortable using photoshop and illustrator as I used them throughout this project. I think my favorite page is the last page because it represents the final product and putting it on display for anyone to see, which is something i am insecure about as an artist. Scared that no one will like it, or it is not up to their standards, but it is also the most important things to do as an artist, get the work out into the world, and to be able to take critiques and grow from that.
